big white dog being scanned with microchip tool

Collars fall off, and hundreds of pets become lost every day. Microchip identification is a reliable way to reunite lost pets with their owners.

Microchipping involves injecting a small electronic glass encapsulated chip, the size of a grain of rice, under the skin in the neck area.

The injection is similar to a regular vaccine injection: it’s safe and only takes a few seconds. Once injected, the chip should be there for life, and your pet’s details and your contact information are entered into a national database.

If your pet is lost and brought into an animal care facility, such as a shelter or veterinary practice, they can scan your pet for a microchip and access the relevant registry to see your contact details. You’ll be reunited with your pets before you know it. If your pet has been stolen and then later recovered, ownership of your pet can be challenged. Microchipping is the only way you can prove ownership of your pet.

If your pet isn’t microchipped, please contact us and make an appointment. If you find a lost pet contact us so we can scan the lost animal and send the lost pet home with its owner.
